Character Creation Challenge 2023: #17 = “Capes, Cowl and Villains Fowl"

Ok. Our next game for this business this January 2023 is “Capes, Cowls, and Villains Fowl” from Spectrum Games. I didn’t do this game in January 2022 but in January 2021, I created Eris for this game.

Step #1 is to find get the trait points for Game Master’s fictional superhero game -- as “Capes, Cowls, and Villains Fowl” is a superhero-themed game. Question #1: Is it 100 Trait Points? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 56. Question #2: 150? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 64. No. Looks like I got 200 points for my character.

Step #2 is to create the traits for my PC. The cost of the trait numbers is on a table on page 12 of the “Capes, Cowls and Villains Fowl” rulebook. The following is what I brought for my PC with the math business in brackets as usual:

  • Robt Body 8 (200 - 12 = 188)

  • Agility 7 (188 - 10 = 178)

  • Smart 7 (178 - 10 = 168)

  • Super Strength 10 (168 - 20 = 148)

  • Flying 10 (148 - 20 = 128)

  • Laser Sword 8 (128 - 12 = 116)

Even though I have 116 Traits Points over, I think I’m out of ideas for traits for my PC.

Step #2 is to get Bonuses for certain traits that cost points. I buy Regular Signature for Super Strength, I’m going with a 2x -- so that cost me 12 points. 116 - 12 = 104.

Step #3 is Restrictions. I taking “Not-A-Finisher” for Smarts. 104 + 1 = 105.

Step #4 is to get the Editor Control for my character. I take the regular 2 Editor Control which is the rule book.

Step #5 is the Threshold. Threshold’s business is the following math business: EC*2+6=Threshold. 2*2=4+6=10.

Step #6 is Complication. I’m going with the following:  “No secret identity.” & “Doesn’t know who built him.”

Step #7 is Factoids. I’m going with the following: “Enjoy game shows”

Step #8 is our character name, I’m going with Engine.

Step #9 is our character’s appearance which I’m going with the following: “Engine is a tall human-like robot made out of white metal with blue optics for eyes.”

Below this paragraph is the full stats of Engine.

Character Creation Business #8: Capes, Cowls And Villains Fowl

Ok. “Capes, Cowls, And Villains Foul” from Spectrum Games allow you to play superheroes. First off, we need to find how many points by hero has -- and to do that we need Mythic help.

Question #1: 100 points for Traits? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 56. No.

Question #2: 150 points a.k.a the Default? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 62. No. That means by the process of elimination that means I’m working with 200 points. I think I’m going to create Eris.

As for Eris’s appearance, she is a red hair woman with red eyes usually dressed in a red toga and sandals.

The following are what I brought for Eris and her math business in brackets as usual.

  • Agility 10 [200 - 20 = 180]

  • Titan Skin 10 [180 - 10 = 160]

  • Brain Power 8 [160 - 12 = 148]

  • Flight 10 [148 - 20 = 128]

  • Super-Strength 12 [128 - 12 = 116]

  • Wrestling 10 [116 - 10 = 106]

  • Fast Talking 8 [106 - 8 = 98]

Ok, I think that Eris’s traits are done -- now I think I been bonuses or restrictions for Eris. None of the bonus pleases my brain but the “Not-A-Finisher” works for Fast Talking. That makes the number of total trait points left 99.

Most PC starts with 2 points in Editorial Control or E.C. as it’s sometimes shorted to. If I want to add, it’s cost Eris points equal to her strongest trait + 3. So it would cost me 15 points for an upgrade. I have 99 points. I think to get to 4 won’t hurt me. 2 to 3’s Cost: 99 - 15 = 84. 3 to 4’s Cost: 84 - 15 = 69.

The threshold is E.C*2+6. Let’s put Eris’s E.C. point into that math business. 4*2=8+6= 14

For Eris’s complication, I’m going with “No Secret Identity”

For Eris’s Factoids, I’m going with the following: “Loves fantasy books”

And we are done.
