Merry Christmas to everyone on Flubs and Boons!!
From,
Dr. Thinker
Just random odds and ends from me, Dr. Thinker, pointing more to the pen and paper roleplaying games then anything us.
It is time for the final note on the Character Creation Challenge. If you had successfully done the 31 Characters for January of this year -- known as 2022, you can get the following from TardisCaptian -- by e-mailing him. Follow the following link to TardisCaptian's homepage:http://tardiscaptain.com/
It took some time to fire off an e-mail to TardisCaptian, but I did it -- and got the following in return:
Hello, this is just some stuff related to the secret behind the Character Creation Challenge posts for 2022. To start off, last year, I got off to a late start -- starting on Jan 7, 2021 -- but this time I went off really early -- in November 2021. The following are the characters in order of creation:
▢ #1: “Action System” (Arak) = Arak’s name is a reverse of the first name of my real favorite alien heroine of all time: Kara Zor-El a.k.a Supergirl.
▢ #2: “ALIEN RPG” (Betty Brick)
▢ #3: “All Flesh Must Be Eaten” (Karren Brimstone) = Karren comes from the name of those women that are facing a midlife crisis that annoy any workers that Reddit complains about on the “I Don’t Work Here, Lady!” Reddit.
▢ #4: “Alma Mater” (Nina Zaffera)
▢ #5: “Cartoon Action Hour: Season 1” (Princess Aelita) = Once again I take the name from a famous cartoon -- Aelita Stone of “Code Lyoko”.
▢ #6: “Cartoon Action Hour: Season 2” (Cassie Cloud)
▢ #7: “Cartoon Action Hour: Season 3” (Suzanne Orange)
▢ #8: “Dream Park: The Roleplaying Game” (Betty Bishop) = I always want to create someone who is related to the troublemaker known as Nigel Bishop -- and with this character I did it.
▢ #9: “Faery’s Tales” (“Tin”)
▢ #10: “Far Away Land” (“Mai”)
▢ #11: “FATE” (“Connie Stume”) = Connie’s name is a pun on the word known as “Costume”.
▢ #12: “Ghostbusters (“Kara Kannon”) = Kara’s name comes from Supergirl. In fact, her Goal is related to the death of Supergirl in “Crisis of Infinite Earth” #7.
▢ #13: “Hero System - Sixth Edition” (Angel) = I think I did a better job of tracking points in this game this year than I did last year.
▢ #14: “It’s Come From The Late, Late, Late Show” (Thomas Guitar)
▢ #15: “ICONS” from Adamant Entertainment (“Neon”)
▢ #16: “ICONS '' from Ad Infinitum Adventures (“Makica”) = I was surprised that I got a Gimmick Origin for both PCs in both versions of “ICONS”.
▢ #17: “James Bond 007 RPG” (“Anna Stania”) = The reason I write that bottle throw at me - is that Anna Stania is a pun on Annastina, the last Princess of Russia before the Soviets.
▢ #18: “Meddling Kids” (“Billy Brick”)
▢ #19: “Mazes & Minotaurs” (“Cassandra”) = The name of the character from the Trojan princess from Greecian mythology -- the one that rejected Apollo.
▢ #20: “On The Air” (“Araka”) = Another reverse of Supergirl’s alien name backward with an extra A added for this PC’s name.
▢ #21: “Open Legends” (“Jazz”) = I always want to create a cyberpunk character named Jazz -- and since last year I made a fantasy character for this RPG. Jazz’s name comes from the character of the same name from the “Transformer: G1” cartoon.
▢ #22: “Mutants and Mastermind - Third Edition” (“Kyana”)
▢ #23: “Big Eyes, Small Mouth - Fourth Edition” (“Mekkia”)
▢ #24: “Sentinel Comics: The Roleplaying Game” (“Princess Zana”)
▢ #25: “RetroStar” (“Araka”) = Similar to #20, I spell Supergirl’s alien name backward with an extra “A” added.
▢ #26: “Slasher Flick” (“Stephen Queen”) = If you think this is a joke on Stephen King, the famous horror writer. Give yourself a cookie of any kind -- even the Internet version -- as you are right as a rain of blood! Sorry, a little horror-themed joke there.
▢ #27: “Awful Cheerful Engine” (“Sarah Kyllien”) = I bought this game on DriveThru RPG -- on Dec. 26, 2020, with help of a DriveThu RPG gift card from Odin Thinker, my brother.
▢ #28: “Biff! Bam! Kapow!” (Miss Fairy) = I bought this game on DriveThu RPG -- on Dec 25, 2020 -- yes, Christmas Day 2020 -- with the help of the formerly mentioned gift card.
▢ #29: “Open Versatile Anime” (“Hikaru Hishuri”)
▢ #30: “Toon” (Keith) = This time around I remember the skills for this character instead of last year's character, the bat called Princess Cassandra.
▢ #31: “Risus” (“Donna Dragon”) = For fun, I wanted to end this year’s business by creating a tabletop roleplaying gamer.
So that’s 2022. If I don’t post much on this Blogger spot -- you will see stuff from me in January 2023 -- since I will be doing the C.C.C. business again. It is a toss-up between doing what I have been doing this year and the last -- or just doing 31 characters in “Cartoon Action Hour: Season 3”.
For my last PC for my Character Creation Challenge of this year - 2022, I will be using Risus. Risus’s rulebook is free. No joke. Sometime last year, the guy behind Risus sold that to Big Dice Game -- but it looks like 75% of the things related to Risus are still free.
Step #1 is to come up with a few Clichés for the characters. Each Cliché is related in a number of 1d6s. You have 10 dice for your characters’ Clichés. I can’t have more than 10 different Clichés for my PC. The following is what I give my PC with the math business in brackets as usual:
Tabletop Roleplaying Game Master 3 (10-3=7)
Writer Of E-Books 2 (7-2=5)
Online Auction Site User 1 (5-1=4)
Lover of Gossip 1 (4-1=3)
Tabletop Roleplaying Gamer 3 (3-3=0)
Step #2 is a Name. I’m going with Donna Dragon.
Step #3 is a Description: “Donna Dragon is a normal-sized human with blonde hair and green eyes usually dressed in a black “media” T-shirt, blue jeans that have been ripped at the knees, a pair of long white socks, and a pair of brown loafers.”
...And with the finish of Donna Dragon, she and the Character Creation Challenge for 2022 is done! Below this paragraph is Donna Dragon’s full stats.
=RISUS=
Name: Donna Dragon
Appearance: Donna Dragon is a normal-sized human with blonde hair and green eyes usually dressed in a black “media” T-shirt, blue jeans that have been ripped at the knees, a pair of long white socks, and a pair of brown loafers.”
Clichés:
▢ Tabletop Roleplaying Game Master (3)
▢ Writer of E-Books (2)
▢ Online Auction Site User (1)
▢ Lover of Gossip (1)
▢ Tabletop Roleplaying Gamer (3)
Our next game is another visit to Repeatville as it’s “TOON” -- a game where you play as theater toons like the following: “Mickey Mouse”, “Bugs Bunny”, “Woody Woodpecker.”
Step #1 is Species. Last year, I went with a Bat. This year I’m going with a Shark.
Step #2 is Attributes. There are four Attributes for this RPG -- which are the following: Muscles, Zip, Smarts, and Chutzpah. Muscles are how strong your Toon is. Zip is how fast your Toon is. Smarts is how smart your Toon is. Chutzpah is how pushy your Toon is. To find out how my rating for each of the stats is to roll a 1d6. The following is my rolls for my TOON:
Muscles’s Roll: 6
Zip’s Roll: 5
Smart’s Roll: 2
Chutzpah’s Roll: 6
Step #3 is to find my Toon’s Hit Point. That is adding 6 to another roll of 1d6. After some time, the dice stops at the following: 4. 4+6=10. 10 is my Toon’s Hit Points.
Step #4 is Name. I’m going with Keith for the name of my Toon.
Step #5 is a Description. The following is the following for Keith’s appearance: “Keith is a 12-foot white shark guy with usually large yellow eyes usually wearing a white tank-top with a red version of the classic skulls and bones of Jolly Rogers pirate flag.”
Step #6 is Natural Enemies. I’m going with the following: “Everything.”
Step #7 is Beliefs and Goals. I’m going with the following: “Sharks are always good as gold.”, “Eat anything that annoys me.”, “Keep my teeth looking good.” & “Try to stay in the water as much as I can.”
Step #8 is Possessions. Four of them can be normal items while four can be anything. I’m going with the following for his normal items: a sword, a mirror, a toothbrush, and a container of toothpaste. For the abnormal items, I’m going with the following: a diving suit, a desktop computer, a female wedding outfit, & an airplane.
Step #9 is Skills. Each skill is related to one of the four Attributes -- and they usually start with the rating in the Attributes roll up during the Attributes business. I got 30 Skills Points to upgrade the skills for Keith -- but not his Attributes. All Muscle Skills start at 6. All Zip skills start at a 5. All Smarts skills start at 2. All Chutzpah skills start at a 6. No skills can be higher than a 9 or lower than a 1. The following is the upgrades I brought for Keith with the math business in brackets as usual:
Upgrading Fight to 9. (9-6=3. 30-3-27)
Upgrade Throw to a 9 (9-6-3. 27-3=24)
Upgrade Swim to a 9. (9-5=4. 24-4=20)
Upgrade Jump to a 9. (9-5=4. 20-4=16)
Upgrade Resist Fast Talk to a 6. (6-2=4. 16-4=12)
Upgrade See/Hear/Smell to an 8 (8-2=6. 12-6=6)
Upgrade Fast Talk to a 9. (9-6=3. 6-3=3)
Upgrade Sneak to 9. (9-6=3. 3-3=0.)
....And we are done with Keith. Below this paragraph is Keith’s full stats.

The game for this day is “Open Versatile Anime”, or “O.V.A.” for short, an anime-themed roleplaying game.
Step #1 is finding the genre of the campaign of the fictional Game Master.
Question #1: Is the genre of the following campaign of the fictional Game Master the following: “Cyberpunk”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 85. No.
Question #2: “Fantasy”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 50. No.
Question #3: “Fighting Series”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 72. No.
Question #4: “Gamer Anime Series”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 84. No.
Question #5: “Harem Anime”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 58. No.
Question #6: “Horror Anime”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 89. No.
Question #7: “Isekai”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 15. Yes.
Step #2 is the Concept. After talking more with the fictional Game Master. The story takes the beats of the 1980’s “Dungeons and Dragons” but set in a space operan universe similar to 1970’s “Star Wars”. I’m going with a normal teenage girl from Earth that becomes a shapeshifter in the space universe.
Step #3 is Abilities. The following is what I bought for my PC with the math business in brackets as usual:
Agile 1 (0+1=1)
Attack 2 (1+2=3)
Charismatic 1 (3+1=4)
Dexterous 2 (4+2=6)
Perceptive 1 (6+1=7)
Shape Shifter 3 (7+3=10)
Smart 1 (10+1=11)
Step #4 is dealing with Weakness. The following is what I give to my PCs with the math business in brackets as usual:
Absent-Minded 1 (11-1=10)
Clumsy 3 (10-3=7)
Dull 1 (7-1=6)
Greedy 1 (6-1=5)
Impulsive 1 (5-1=4)
Kind-Hearted 1 (4-1=3)
Overconfident 1 (3-1=2)
Even if I have 2 points after getting all the Weakness for the character, I’m running out of ideas for anything -- so I’m moving to Step #5 -- Perks & Flaws. The following is what I give my PC in both Perks and Flaws with the math business in brackets as usual:
“No Gesture” for Shape-Shifter (2+5=7)
And “Self-Only” for Shape-Shifter (7-5=2)
Step #6 is getting my PC’s Health. Since I didn’t take any Abilities or Flaws that did a number on the Health of my PC. My Health of my PC is 40.
Step #7 is Endurance for my PC’s. Since I didn’t take any Abilities or Flaws that did a number on the Endurance of Health of my PC. My health of My PC is 40.
Step #8 is a Name. I’m going with Hikaru Hishuri as the name of the PC.
Step #9 is an Appearance. I’m going with the following: “When not changed into another form, Hikaru Hishuri is a teenage girl with pink hair and blue eyes usually dressed in a purple blouse, blue jeans dyed pink, a pair of purple socks, and a pair of purple high-heel shoes.”
Step #10 is a Background. I’m going with the following: “Originally, Hikaru Hishuri was a normal Japanese high school student living in the Kyushu ward of Tokyo -- until she and her friends were summoned to the Kyalzon Galaxy to battle against the evil Lord Yami and his forces by the mysterious imp, Cosikka, who give her the ability to shape-shift into other things.”
....And Hikaru Hishuri is done. Below this paragraph is her full stats.
