Character Creation Challenge 2022: #31 = “RISUS”

For my last PC for my Character Creation Challenge of this year - 2022, I will be using Risus. Risus’s rulebook is free. No joke. Sometime last year, the guy behind Risus sold that to Big Dice Game -- but it looks like 75% of the things related to Risus are still free.

Step #1 is to come up with a few Clichés for the characters. Each Cliché is related in a number of 1d6s. You have 10 dice for your characters’ Clichés. I can’t have more than 10 different Clichés for my PC. The following is what I give my PC with the math business in brackets as usual:

  • Tabletop Roleplaying Game Master 3 (10-3=7)

  • Writer Of E-Books 2 (7-2=5)

  • Online Auction Site User 1 (5-1=4)

  • Lover of Gossip 1 (4-1=3)

  • Tabletop Roleplaying Gamer 3 (3-3=0)

Step #2 is a Name. I’m going with Donna Dragon.

Step #3 is a Description: “Donna Dragon is a normal-sized human with blonde hair and green eyes usually dressed in a black “media” T-shirt,  blue jeans that have been ripped at the knees, a pair of long white socks, and a pair of brown loafers.”

...And with the finish of Donna Dragon, she and the Character Creation Challenge for 2022 is done!  Below this paragraph is Donna Dragon’s full stats.

=RISUS=

Name: Donna Dragon

Appearance: Donna Dragon is a normal-sized human with blonde hair and green eyes usually dressed in a black “media” T-shirt,  blue jeans that have been ripped at the knees, a pair of long white socks, and a pair of brown loafers.”

Clichés:

▢ Tabletop Roleplaying Game Master (3)
▢ Writer of E-Books (2)
▢ Online Auction Site User (1)
▢ Lover of Gossip (1)

▢ Tabletop Roleplaying Gamer (3)

Character Creation Challenge 2022: #30 = "TOON"

Our next game is another visit to Repeatville as it’s “TOON” -- a game where you play as theater toons like the following: “Mickey Mouse”, “Bugs Bunny”, “Woody Woodpecker.”

Step #1 is Species. Last year, I went with a Bat. This year I’m going with a Shark.

Step #2 is Attributes. There are four Attributes for this RPG -- which are the following: Muscles, Zip, Smarts, and Chutzpah. Muscles are how strong your Toon is. Zip is how fast your Toon is. Smarts is how smart your Toon is. Chutzpah is how pushy your Toon is. To find out how my rating for each of the stats is to roll a 1d6. The following is my rolls for my TOON:

  • Muscles’s Roll: 6

  • Zip’s Roll: 5

  • Smart’s Roll: 2

  • Chutzpah’s Roll: 6

Step #3 is to find my Toon’s Hit Point. That is adding 6 to another roll of 1d6. After some time, the dice stops at the following: 4. 4+6=10. 10 is my Toon’s Hit Points.

Step #4 is Name. I’m going with Keith for the name of my Toon.

Step #5 is a Description. The following is the following for Keith’s appearance: “Keith is a 12-foot white shark guy with usually large yellow eyes usually wearing a white tank-top with a red version of the classic skulls and bones of Jolly Rogers pirate flag.”

Step #6 is Natural Enemies. I’m going with the following: “Everything.”

Step #7 is Beliefs and Goals. I’m going with the following: “Sharks are always good as gold.”, “Eat anything that annoys me.”, “Keep my teeth looking good.” & “Try to stay in the water as much as I can.”

Step #8 is Possessions. Four of them can be normal items while four can be anything. I’m going with the following for his normal items: a sword, a mirror, a toothbrush, and a container of toothpaste. For the abnormal items, I’m going with the following: a diving suit, a desktop computer, a female wedding outfit, & an airplane.

Step #9 is Skills. Each skill is related to one of the four Attributes -- and they usually start with the rating in the Attributes roll up during the Attributes business. I got 30 Skills Points to upgrade the skills for Keith -- but not his Attributes. All Muscle Skills start at 6. All Zip skills start at a 5. All Smarts skills start at 2. All Chutzpah skills start at a 6. No skills can be higher than a 9 or lower than a 1. The following is the upgrades I brought for Keith with the math business in brackets as usual:

  • Upgrading Fight to 9. (9-6=3. 30-3-27)

  • Upgrade Throw to a 9 (9-6-3. 27-3=24)

  • Upgrade Swim to a 9. (9-5=4. 24-4=20)

  • Upgrade Jump to a 9. (9-5=4. 20-4=16)

  • Upgrade Resist Fast Talk to a 6. (6-2=4. 16-4=12)

  • Upgrade See/Hear/Smell to an 8 (8-2=6. 12-6=6)

  • Upgrade Fast Talk to a 9. (9-6=3. 6-3=3)

  • Upgrade Sneak to 9. (9-6=3. 3-3=0.)

....And we are done with Keith. Below this paragraph is Keith’s full stats.

Character Creation Challenge 2022: #29 = “Open Versatile Anime - Second Edition”

The game for this day is “Open Versatile Anime”, or “O.V.A.” for short, an anime-themed roleplaying game.

Step #1 is finding the genre of the campaign of the fictional Game Master.

Question #1: Is the genre of the following campaign of the fictional Game Master the following: “Cyberpunk”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 85. No.

Question #2: “Fantasy”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 50. No.

Question #3: “Fighting Series”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 72. No.

Question #4: “Gamer Anime Series”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 84. No.

Question #5: “Harem Anime”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 58. No.

Question #6: “Horror Anime”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 89. No.

Question #7: “Isekai”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 15. Yes.

Step #2 is the Concept. After talking more with the fictional Game Master. The story takes the beats of the 1980’s “Dungeons and Dragons” but set in a space operan universe similar to 1970’s “Star Wars”. I’m going with a normal teenage girl from Earth that becomes a shapeshifter in the space universe.

Step #3 is Abilities. The following is what I bought for my PC with the math business in brackets as usual:

  • Agile 1 (0+1=1)

  • Attack 2 (1+2=3)

  • Charismatic 1 (3+1=4)

  • Dexterous 2 (4+2=6)

  • Perceptive 1 (6+1=7)

  • Shape Shifter 3 (7+3=10)

  • Smart 1 (10+1=11)

Step #4 is dealing with Weakness. The following is what I give to my PCs with the math business in brackets as usual:

  • Absent-Minded 1 (11-1=10)

  • Clumsy 3 (10-3=7)

  • Dull 1 (7-1=6)

  • Greedy 1 (6-1=5)

  • Impulsive 1 (5-1=4)

  • Kind-Hearted 1 (4-1=3)

  • Overconfident 1 (3-1=2)

Even if I have 2 points after getting all the Weakness for the character, I’m running out of ideas for anything -- so I’m moving to Step #5 -- Perks & Flaws. The following is what I give my PC in both Perks and Flaws with the math business in brackets as usual:

  • “No Gesture” for Shape-Shifter (2+5=7)

  • And “Self-Only” for Shape-Shifter (7-5=2)

Step #6 is getting my PC’s Health. Since I didn’t take any Abilities or Flaws that did a number on the Health of my PC. My Health of my PC is 40.

Step #7 is Endurance for my PC’s. Since I didn’t take any Abilities or Flaws that did a number on the Endurance of Health of my PC. My health of My PC is 40.

Step #8 is a Name. I’m going with Hikaru Hishuri as the name of the PC.

Step #9 is an Appearance. I’m going with the following: “When not changed into another form, Hikaru Hishuri is a teenage girl with pink hair and blue eyes usually dressed in a purple blouse, blue jeans dyed pink, a pair of purple socks, and a pair of purple high-heel shoes.”

Step #10 is a Background. I’m going with the following: “Originally, Hikaru Hishuri was a normal Japanese high school student living in the Kyushu ward of Tokyo -- until she and her friends were summoned to the Kyalzon Galaxy to battle against the evil Lord Yami and his forces by the mysterious imp, Cosikka, who give her the ability to shape-shift into other things.”

....And Hikaru Hishuri is done. Below this paragraph is her full stats.

=O.V.A.=

Name: “Hikaru Hishuri”

Character Creation Challenge 2022: #28 = “Biff! Bam! Kapow!”

For this one, I’m going with another recent roleplaying game I got  -- this time, it comes from Spectrum Games. The tabletop game in question is called “Biff! Bam! Kapow!”. “Biff! Bam! Kapow!” is a kiss-up to the live-action “Batman” television show starring Adam West as Bruce “Batman” Wayne.

Step #1 is Attributes. There are four Attributes in this game: Action (a.k.a muscle business), Thought (a.k.a brain business), Drama (a.k.a social business), and Pluck (a.k.a heart business).

Step #2 is buying the Rating for the Attributes. I have 4 points to buy them -- but Rating of 1 costs 1 point while Rating of 2 costs 2 Points. I think I just put 1 in each Attribute.

Step #3 is Skills and Items. I have to come with four Skills and/or Items for my PC. I’m going with the following for them: THICK SKIN (Skill), VERY STRONG (Skill), CROSSBOW (Item) & ACROBATICS (Skills).

Step #4 is to add Flaws. I think I’m going with one Flaw for my PC - “Teenager”

Step #5 is to get Enhancements. I get two points plus one point for Flaws I give my PC -- so I have 3 for my character. I’m going to start with “Low-Budget” for the CROSSBOW item. 3-1=2. Now, I’m going with Mastery  for the ACROBATICS skill. 2-1=1.

Step #6 is the name for my PC. I’m going with the following: “Miss Fairy”

Step #7 is appearance. I’m going with the following: “Miss Fairy is a teenage girl with pink hair and blue eyes usually dressed in a long pink gown with fake silver butterfly-wings and a pair of long pink boots. Francis Royal is a teenage girl with blonde hair and blue eyes usually dressed in a white sweater, blue jeans, a pair of white socks and a pair of blue sneakers.”

...And Miss Fairy is done. Below this paragraph is the full stats of Miss Fairy herself.

=BBK=

Name: Miss Fairy

Appearance: Miss Fairy is a teenage girl with pink hair and blue eyes usually dressed in a long pink gown with fake silver butterfly-wings and a pair of long pink boots. Francis Royal is a teenage girl with blonde hair and blue eyes usually dressed in a white sweater, blue jeans, a pair of white socks and a pair of blue sneakers.

Attributes:

▢Action: 1

▢Drama: 1
▢Thought: 1

▢ Pluck: 1

Skills & Items:

▢ THICK SKIN (Skill)
▢ VERY STRONG (Skill)
▢ CROSSBOW (Low-Budget Item)

Character Creation Challenge 2022: #27 = “Awfully Cheerful Engine”

Our next game is “Awful Cheerful Engine”, one of the most recent tabletop roleplaying game rulebooks I have gotten.

Step #1 is finding the genre of the campaign of the fictional game.

Question #1: What is the genre of the game? “Cyberpunk”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 78. No.

Question #2: “Fantasy”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 5. Exceptional Yes. Fantasy is the genre of the fictional Game Master’s campaign.

Step #2 is to find a roll for my PC. I think I stick with the “Fantasy” business that is in the rulebook for this tabletop roleplaying game.

Question #3: What fantasy role is my PC? “Alchemist?” My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 90. No.

Question #4: “Assassin”? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 39. Yes.

Step #3 is Stats. There are four stats in this game -- and they are the following: Smarts, Moves, Style and Brawn. I have 12 Points to do so -- but I can’t have any stats higher than a 5 or lower then a 2.  I start with a 2 in Brawn. 12-2=10. I’m going to a 4 for Smarts. 10 - 4 = 6. I take a 3 for Style. 6 - 3 = 3.  And I’m left with 3 for Moves. 3 - 3 = 0.

Step #4 is a special focus for each of the stats. All of them will show up in the stats in brackets like the one I usually use in math business while doing other tabletop roleplaying games.  For my Smart one, I’m going with Cooking. For my Moves, I’m going with Thievery. For my Style, I’m going with Gambling. For my Brawn, I’m going with Climbing.

Step #4 is to do some health business. Step #4A is figuring out defense which 3 times my character’s number in it’s Moves stats.. 3 * 3 = 9 Step #4B is figuring out Health. Health is equal to the Brawn stats. 2 is my Health. Step #4C is up Defense to 8 since that’s the lowest a Defense can be -- which I don’t need since my defense is actually a 9.

Step #5 is to pick a trait for my PC. For funny business, I’m going with “Cheerful”.

Step #6 is my PC’s Special Ability. This is next to their role in the rulebook for this tabletop roleplaying game. The special ability for the Assassin is the following: “ You’re so good at killing people. You do double damage on your first attack against somebody.”

Step #7 is getting Karma. Most PCs get 6 Karma to spell on things.

Step #8 is a name. I’m going with Sarah Kyllien.....

..And we are done with Sarah Kyllien. Below this paragraph is Sarah’s full stats.....

=ACE=

Name: Sarah Kyllien

Traits: Cheerful
Role: Assassin

Stats:

▢ Smarts: 4 (Cooking)
▢ Moves: 3 (Thievery)
▢ Style: 3 (Gambling)
▢ Brawn: 2 (Climbing)

Defense: 9

Health: 2

Special Ability: You’re so good at killing people. You do double damage on your

first attack against somebody.

Character Creation Challenge 2022: #26 = “Slasher Flick”

Our next game is from Repeatville, it’s one of Spectrum Games’s horror games, “Slasher Flick”. “Slasher Flick” is all about trying to get through one of those slasher flicks like “Nightmare On Elm Street” or “Friday the 13th”.

Step #1 is deciding on Primary or Secondary character. Primary characters may get out of the movie getting killed by rip-offs of Jason Voorhes or Freddy Krueger while Secondary characters will die like moths to bug zapper. I’m going with the former then the latter for this character.

Step #2 is Stereotypes. In other games, this would be the class or job of the PC. Last year I was made an “A Soap Opera Actress.” This time, I’m going with a “Horror Film Director”

Step #3 is stats is get the Poor for each four stats in this game which are the following: Brawn, Finesse, Brains & Spirit.

Step #4 is to use the 4 Stat Boosters that I got since my character is a Primary. Secondary characters get 3 Stats. I will use all 4 to get my stats up to Normal -- since getting Good cost 2 Stats Boosters.

Step #5 is Positive Qualities. Primary Characters like the one I am working on get 4 Positive Qualities. I’m going with the following: “Handsome”, “Knows About Films”, “Ex-Safecracker”, & “Boxer”

Step #6 is Negative Quality. If I was playing this with friends at a tabletop, I would pass to the man or woman to my left -- not counting the Game Master of the session -- but since I’m doing this solo, I’m going to come up with a Negative Quality on my own -- which is the following: “Bossy”

Step #7 is to use the two Alterations to do some stuff to my PC being a Primary Character. I’m going up both Finesse and Brain to Good

Step #8 is an item. Since my character is a director, I’m going with a portable video camera

Step #9 is Name. I’m going with Stephen Queen.  If you think I’m riffing on famous horror writer, Stephen King.

Step #10 is a link to another PC. This one is going to the one I linked to the one I did last year, “Donna Winters” -- which is the following: “Is the neighbor across the street from Donna Winters.”

Step #11 is a character’s tidbit. “Likes tabletop roleplaying games.”

...And we're done with Stephen Queen. Below this paragraph is Stephen Queen’s full stats. Enjoy!

=SLASHER=

Name: Stephen Queen

Role: “Primary Character”

Stereotype: “Horror Film Director”

Stats:
▢ Brawn: Normal (“Boxer”)
▢ Finesse: Good (“Ex-Safecraker”)
▢ Brains: Good (“Knows About Films”)
▢ Spirit: Normal (Positive: “Handsome”, Negative: “Bossy”)

Item:
▢ Portable Video Camera

PC’s Link:

▢ “Is the neighbor across the street from Donna Winters.”

Tibit:
▢“Likes tabletop roleplaying games.”
