As I promised last time, the next two characters are for “ICONS”. “ICONS” is a superhero-themed roleplaying game that has two companies behind it. The first one is Adamant Entertainment. The other company is going to be the next one on the hit-list.
Step #1 is to roll up an Origin. To do that, I need to roll 2d6. The 2d6 gives the following number this time around: 8. 8 means the following: “Gimmick.” Gimmick means the following: “The character’s powers all come from devices of some kind. One of the character’s mental abilities (your choice) is increased by +2.”
Step #2 is roll up Abilities. There are six abilities in ICONS -- which are the following: Prowess, Coordination, Strength, Intellect, Awareness, and Willpower. To find out those, I need to roll 2d6 again for each of the six Abilities -- and look at the table on page 11 of the rulebook for this edition of “ICONS”. The following is what I got for my PC for each of the Abilities:
Prowess’s Roll: 2d6 = 8. 8 = 5
Coordination’s Roll: 2d6 = 11. 11 = 7
Strength’s Roll: 2d6 = 12. 12 = 8
Intellect’s Roll: 2d6 = 5. 5 = 4
Awareness’s Roll: 2d6 = 3. 3 = 2
Willpower’s Roll: 2d6 = 7. 7 = 5.
So which of the three mental abilities: Intellect, Awareness or Willpower gets the +2? Those are a few questions for Mythic to answer.
Question #1: Does Intellect get a +2? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 25. Yes. 5+2=7.
Step #3 is a math business where the total of the numbers in the Abilities of the PC is equal or greater than 20. Otherwise, I have to start over -- it’s time to do some math!
5 (Prowess) + 7 (Coordination) = 12
12 + 8 (Strength) = 20.
20 + 7 (Intellect) = 27
27 + 3 (Awareness) = 30
30 + 7 (Willpower) = 37.
37 > 20..
...It’s all good. Step #4 is to find the number of powers my PC has. I need to roll a d12 and look at a table on the bottom of page 11. The d12 gives the following number this time around 7. 7 means the PC has 3 powers.
Step #5 is answering the following question: “What kind of powers do my PCs have?” This question is answered with a table on Page 12. I need to roll a 2d6 to find out what type of powers my PC has. The following are what my PC go with the rolls of 2d6:
Power #1’s Type Roll: 11. 11 = Sensory
Power #2’s Type Roll: 8. 8 = Movement
Power #3’s Type Roll: 7. 7 = Mental.
Step #6 is finding what powers in each of the above power types my PCs have. To do so I need to find the table of that power on pages 12 through 13 of the rulebook for this edition of “ICONS” -- and roll a d6 twice. If I get one with a bullet -- that means that counts as two powers. The following are my rolls as I come across each of the tables in the “ICONS” rulebook for this edition:
Power #3’s Mental Power’s Rolls: 2 & 3. 2 & 3 = Illusion.
Power #2’s Movement Power’s Roll: 3 & 3. 3 & 3 = Super Speed.
Power #1’s Sensory Power’s Roll: 4 & 3. 4 & 3 = Supersenses.
Step #7 is to roll the Power Level for each power using the table on Page 11. The following is what I got for each power:
Supersenses’s Roll: 2d6 = 6. 6 = 4
Super Speed’s Roll: 2d6 = 8. 8 = 5.
Illusion’s Roll: 2d6 = 8. 8 = 5.
Step #8 is the number of Specialties for the PC. This is a roll of 2d6 -- and look at the table on page 14. The 2d6 after some rolling stopped at the following number: 8. 8 means my PC has 3 Specialties. I’m going to pick the following Specialities for my PC: Business, Computers, & Electronics.
Step #9 is Stamina. That number is equal to the total of Strength plus Willpower. 7+7=14.
Step #10 is Determination Points. That is what is left after removing both the number of powers plus the number of abilities that are over 6 from the number known as 6. 6 - 3 (the number of my PC’s powers) = 3 - 3 (the number of abilities that are over 6 that my PC has.) = 0. That sounds bad - but the minimum value that a Determination Points have is 1. So my PC gets 1.
Step #11 is Name. I’m going with Neon
Step #12 is Appearance. I’m going with the following: “Neon is a tall man with black hair and green eyes usually dressed in a cross between an astronaut suit and a Tron cosplay outfit. Nick Keystone is a tall man with black hair usually dressed in a brown shirt, blue jeans, a pair of white socks, and a pair of brown loafers.”
Step #13 is Background. I’m going with the following: “Nick Key was working on something for NASA when the Troll arrived -- though some superheroes did show up to stop the Troll. The suit sucked the energy from superheroes in the suit that Nick was working on -- and allowed him to get three superpowers: Super Speed, Interface, & Illusion - -and Nick used the power-upped suit to become Neon and fight crime.”
Step #14 is Qualities. I’m going with “Secret Identity: Scientist”
Step #15 is Challenge. I’m going with “Newbie Hero”
Step #16 talked to the fictional Game Master to change Supersenses to Interface -- and got the approval to do so....as doing Step #17 -- adding the “Item: Super Spacesuit” to each of the powers.....
...And Neon is done, the full stats for Neon is below this paragraph:
