As promised during the last business for this Character Creation Challenge, I told you that I will be doing the two editions of “ICONS” -- the last one was the edition published by Adamant Entertainment. This time, the edition is the one published by Ad Infinitum Adventures.
Step #1 is rolling up the Origin. Which is still the usually 2d6 business. After rolling, the 2d6 stopped the following number: 9. 9 means the PC’s Origin is a Gimmick. Even if I did a Gimmick for the previous edition of this RPG, here is a reminder of what a Gimmick is: “The character’s powers all come from devices of some kind (see Devices in the Powers chapter). One of the character’s mental attributes of your choice is increased by +2, to a maximum of 10.”
Step #2 is to deal with the six Abilities -- which are still the following: Prowess, Coordination, Strength, Intellect, Awareness, & Willpower. This time, the Power Table is on Page 57 of the rulebook for this edition of “ICONS.” It still rolls the 2d6 for each Ability -- and looking at the former mention table. The following is what, I got for my PC for each of the six Abilities:
Prowess’s Roll: 2d6 = 6. 6 = 4.
Coordination’s Roll: 2d6 = 11. 11 = 7.
Strength’s Roll: 2d6 = 8. 8 = 5
Intellect’s Roll: 2d6 = 4. 4 = 3
Awareness’s Roll: 2d6 = 4. 4 = 3.
Willpower’s Roll: 2d6 = 4. 4 = 3.
Well, Step #3 is to deal with the +2 I got earlier.....but I think this is a business for Mythic....
.....Question #1: Since all three Mental Abilities -- Intellect, Awareness, and Willpower are at 3 -- which one gets the +2 in your fictional nonexistent hands. Intellect? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 24. Yes. 3+2=5....
.....Step #4 is to roll a 2d6 and look at the table on top of page 59 of the rulebook for this edition of “ICONS” for the number of powers that my PC has. After some rolling, the 2d6 stops at the following number: 6. 6 means the following -- my PC has 3 powers.
Step #5 is finding what type of powers my PC has. This is a 2d6 roll but on the bottom table on Page 59 of the rulebook for this edition of “ICONS”. The following is what the power business got:
Power #1’s Roll: 4 = Control
Power #2’s Roll: 10 = Alteration
Power #3’s Roll: 7 = Offense.
Step #6 is finding what type of powers my PC has - this is done by rolling a d6 twice -- and looking on the tables of pages 60 and 61 of the rulebook for this edition of “ICONS”. The following is what I got for my PC in order of table location:
Alteration Powers: 1d6 & 1d6 = 5 & 6 = Transformation.
Control Powers: 1d6 & 1d6 = 5 & 4 = Magic
Offense Powers: 1d6 & 1d6 = 4 & 3 = Blast.
Step #7, I’m getting some items for my PC. A jewel for transformation. A staff for magic. A sword for Blast...
.....Step #8 is getting the Power Level for each of the powers I got. This uses the 2d6 with the same table that I used for the Attributes. The following is what I got for each Power:
Magic’s Roll: 2d6 = 10. 10 = 6.
Transformation Roll: 2d6 = 7. 7 = 5.
Blast: 2d6 = 10. 10 = 6.
Step #9 is to get the number of Specialties for my PC. This uses the table on Page 62 of this edition of the “ICONS” rulebook. The tables still use a 2d6. After some rolling, the 2d6 stops at the following number: 11. 11 means my PC has 4 specialties.
Step #10 is to either pick or roll up the four Specialities of my PC using the table on Page 63 of the rulebook. For this one, I’m going to use the formerly mentioned table. To do so, I need to roll a d6 twice for each of the four abilities. The following is what I got for my PC:
First roll: 1d6 & 1d6 = 6 & 5. 6 & 5 = Weapons.
Second roll: 1d6 & 1d6 = 2 & 3. 2 & 3 = Law
Third Roll: 1d6 & 1d6 = 1 & 6. 1 & 6 = Drive
Four Roll: 1d6 & 1d6 = 4 & 4. 4 & 4 = Power.
Step #11 is to take “Humanoids” as my Transformation.
Step #12 is Name. I’m going with the following for the name of my PC: Makica.
Step #13 is Appearance. I’m going with the following: “Makica is an anime-like female human with pink hair and red eyes usually dressed in a purple wedding dress with silver trim and sandals.”
Step #14 is Background. I’m going with the following: “One of the most famous anime from Japan in the ICONS universe is “Fantasy Fighters” -- about a group of adventurers traveling an anime world similar to your classic fantasy media about the medieval ages. One of the most favorite characters is Makica, a female wizard that is kind and friendly to everyone despite looking like a copycat of Tina from the “The Killer Dragon” franchise.
One day, an imp shows up in the ICONS universe -- and summons a branch of fictional characters from all the fictional media from all of the world. A group of superheroes banished the imp back to the universe it came from. Makica was one of the characters left behind -- after the imp went home.
Makica decides to fight crime in hope of getting rewarded with a trip back to her home universe.”
Step #15 is Stamina. That is still the result of Strength plus Willpower. 5+3=8. 8 is the Makica’s Stamina.
Step #16 is Determination Points. That is still the result of removing both the number of Powers and the number of Attributes above 6 from the number known as 6. 6-3(the number of powers)=3-1 (The number of Attributes above 6)=2. 2 is Makica’s Determination Points.
Step #17 is to come up with three Qualities for my PC. The following is what I came up with for Makica: “A Famous Anime Character”, “Looks Mean But Actual Nice”, & “Workaholic”...
...And Makica is done. Below this paragraph is Makica’s full stats.
