Character Creation Business #7: Call of Culuthu Seventh Edition

"Call of Cthulhu" is a tabletop game where you play humans against the cosmic horrors ..that H.P. Lovecraft and his fellow 1920's writers wrote about.......and go insane if you don't die to Cthulhu or one of his many friends.

Step #1 is to Determine the six of the Main Characteristics of the PC by roll 3d6 x 5 for STR (Strength), CON (Constitution), DEX (Dexterity), APP (Appearance), and POW (Power)

  • Strength’s Roll: 40

  • Constitution’s Roll: 35

  • Dexterity’s Roll: 45

  • Appearance Roll: 45

  • Power’s Roll: 50

Step #2 is to Determine the three of the Main Characters by rolling 2d6 + 6 * 5 for SIZ (Size), INT (Intelligence), and EDU (Education).

  • Size’s Roll: 40

  • Intelligence’s Roll: 36

  • Education’s Roll: 37.

Step #3 is deciding on age for my character. Here is where Mythic is going to come in handy.

Question #1: Is my PC 20 or above? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 20. Yes.

Question #2: 20? My View: 50/50? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 80. No.

Question #3: 21? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 32. Yes.

Step #5 next is to roll a d100 and see if I get an improvement on my PC’s education. The Dice Number is 83. 83 > 36 -- so I get to roll a d10 to get find how much I add to my PC. 9. 37 + 9 = 46.

Step #6 is to deal with the Derived Attributes of the PC. The first is Sanity Points which equals the PC’s Power which is 50. Magic Point is one-fifth of the Power lucky they are chart to help me in the rulebook -- which tells 25 is the half of 50. Next is to roll 3d6 * 5 for Luck -- which the Dice Number tells me is the following number: 85. Next is Hit Points which is the following math problem: Size + Constitution/10 (Rounded up) = Hit Points. Let’s plug the PC’s numbers in the math problem.  40 + 35 = 75. 75/5 = 15. 15 is Hit Points for the PC.

Step #7  is to look at the following three of the PC’s Characteristics -- Dexterity, Strength, and Size --  to find the Move Rate. The Strength of the PC is 40. The Dexterity of the PC is 45. And the Size of the PC is 40. The move rate is 8 as Strength is equal to the Size while Dexterity is 5 points higher.

Step #8 is Decide Occupations and All Points of Skills. We need to ask a question for Mythic for this before we start. Question #7: Does this fictional Game Master’s campaign takes place in the time between the 1900’s to the 1950’s? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 31. Yes.

Question #4: is the PC an Antiquarian? My View: 50/50? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 62.

Question #5: An Artist? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 39. Yes. I can get any of the following skills: Art/Craft (any), History or Natural World, one interpersonal skill (Charm, Fast Talk, Intimidate, or Persuade), Other Language, Psychology, Spot Hidden,

any two other skills.

Question #6: What kind of Art is our PC doing? Acting? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 63.

Question #7: Barber? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 80. No.

Question #8: Calligraphy? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 78. No.

Question #9: Carpenter? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 78. No.

Question #10: Dancer? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 39. Yes and that makes the gender of the PC female, I am going to Cassandra Claws as the name of the main character.

Question #11: Get the History skill for C.C.? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 64. No. Then Natural World.

Question #12: Get the Charm skill for C.C.? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 87. No.

Question #13: Fast Talk? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 3. Exceptional Yes.

Question #14: Language? Is PC’s main language is American English? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 60. No.

Question #15: Is the PC Main Language, Chinese? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 21. Yes.

Question #16: is the other Language, American English? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 14. Yes. I am going with a red hair woman with red eyes usually dressed in a pink Chinese quipo and black high-heel shoes for C.C.’s appearance.

Question #17: I can get two more skills. Which skills are those?

Question #18: Accounting? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 41. Yes.

Question #19: Anthropology? My View: Doesn’t sound logical for my character.

Question #20: Appraise? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 3. Exceptional Yes.

Two find my skill points for the Oppucations skills I have to times Cassandra’s Education x 2 or Power x 2 or Dexterity x 2. C.C.’s Education is 46. C.C.’s Power is 50. C.C.’s Dexterity is 45.

Question #21: use Dexterity? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 2. Exceptional Yes. 45 * 2 = 90.

Question #22: 50 for Credit Rating? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 14. Yes. 90 - 50 = 40.

Ok. The following is the payment  as well as the mat business for each skill C.C. has:

  • Accounting: 9 [40 - 9 = 31]

  • Appraise: 5 [31 - 5 = 26]

  • Artist (Dancer): 10 [26 - 10 = 16]

  • Fast Talking: 3 [16 - 3 = 13]

  • Natural World: 3 [13 - 3 = 10]

  • Psychology: 2 [10 - 2 = 8]

  • Other Language (American English): 4 [8 - 4 = 4]

  • Spot Hidden: 4 [4 - 4 = 0]

Step #9 is to get the points for Personal Skills by timing C.C.’s Education x 5. 46 * 2 = 92. 92 is my Personal Skills points. First off, let’s get Fighting (Brawling) out of the picture. I’m going 10 here. 82 points left.

Question #23: Climb? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 29. Yes. I’m going with 8 here. 82 - 8 = 74.

Question #24: Culuthu Myths? My View: Doesn’t fit my character I think.

Question #25: Disguise? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 40. Yes. I’m going with 10 here. 74 - 10 = 64.

Question #26: Diving? My View: Doesn’t fit my character.

Question #27: Drive Auto? My View: Sounds right. I’m going with 10. 64 - 10 = 54.

Question #28: First Aid? My View: Works for me. I’m going with 9 here. 54 - 9 = 45.

Question #29: History? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 10. Yes. I’m going with 10 here. 45 - 10 = 35.

Question #30: Intimidate? My View: 50/50. Mythic View: 35. Yes. I’m going with 9 here. 35 - 9 = 26.

Question #31: Library Use? My View: Works for me. 10 for this one. 26 - 10 = 16.

Question #32: Persuade? My View: Work for me. 6 for this one. 16 - 6 = 10.

I think I take 5 in Stealth and 5 in Swim and end the skill business.

Step #10 is Combat Values business by adding Strength and Size and look on a table. Let’s add C.C.’s numbers to the math problem: 40 + 40 = 80. 80 has a Damage Bonus of -1. Well, “Call of Cuuthu” is not a “fight the monster and take their items” tabletop like “Dungeons and Dragon”. C.C.’s Build is also -1 as well. I don’t any skill points left so I put 0 in Dodge business.

Step #11 is background information. First I change Appearance to Personality Description. Her Belief is the following: She believes all gods of all religions -- past and present are aliens. No idea for Significant People for C.C.  For C..C’s Meaningful Location, I’m going with the following: The Golden Apple, her business on the outskirts of San Francisco. For C.C.’s Treasured Possession, I’m going with the following: A golden apple with the word: “To The Fairness”

Step #12 is to get the cash and assets for Cassandra. Cash is Credit Rating x 5 which gives C.C. $100 dollars because her Credit Rating is 50. Assets are Credit Rating x 500 which gets C.C. $25,000 dollars in assets because her Credit Rating is 50.
